How to Hard Reset Wipe Samsung Galaxy S 2 s2 SII S II (AT&T ATT)

This support article will explain how to return your Samsung Galaxy S 2 to factory defaults which is commonly known as a "hard reset."  This will wipe all personal data not saved to your SD card.  Don't forget to BACK UP anything that you don't want to lose!

There are 2 options, first the easy way:

  1. From the main home screen, select menu.
  2. Go to Settings, > Privacy Factory data reset > Reset phone.
  3. You will need to enter your password, and then touch Yes to confirm.

If that doesn't work, or if your phone will not boot, try this:

  1. Turn the power off. If your Samsung Galaxy S 2 is hung or frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Down button
  3. Press and release the Power button
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the Samsung Galaxy S 2. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.
